Biography
Charlotte Bevan is co-applicant on the Policy Research Unit in Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare (PRU-MNHC). She works with Rachel Plachcinski to ensure the parent, patient and public perspective is at the heart of the NPEU's PRU-MNHC research projects.
Charlotte is a former journalist, having worked in print, broadcast and on-line media in the UK and south-east Asia, where she was a BBC correspondent. She became involved in maternity research when her first daughter Hope died shortly after birth in 2001. She also works for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity as a senior advisor. She is a member of the MBRRACE-UK and the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) collaborations; a Steering Group member for the National Child Mortality Database; and a co-applicant/advisor for current research studies: DISCERN: Strengthening Open Disclosure in NHS maternity care (Kings College London); UMPIRE: Understanding Multidisciplinary approaches and Parental Input in Perinatal Mortality Review (Leicester University); 'What is the value of undertaking a study to determine the clinical and cost effectiveness of late pregnancy ultrasound to prevent adverse perinatal outcome in nulliparous women (Cambridge University).
