Associate PIs

About the Associate Principal Investigator Scheme

The Associate Principal Investigator Scheme aims to develop doctors, nurses and other health professionals to become the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the future. This scheme is a six-month in-work training opportunity that provides practical experience for healthcare professionals who are beginning their research careers.

Gain Valuable Research Experience

This scheme offers a chance for individuals who typically do not engage in clinical research during their regular roles to experience working on and delivering a NIHR portfolio trial. Participants will be mentored by an experienced and enthusiastic Local PI.

Get Involved

If you have any questions about the scheme, including the eligibility of an applicant or a study to join, please contact the Associate PI Scheme central team at associatepischeme@nihr.ac.uk or the neoGASTRIC trial coordinating team at neogastric@npeu.ox.ac.uk.
